RONEN TANCHUM
ARTIST
New media artist Ronen Tanchum explores the field of generative art, focusing on synthetic nature and the complex interactions between people, technology and the environment. His artistic practice, presented on screens, projections, as well as in the form of installations, balances on the verge of artificial and organic, structured and chaotic. Using 3D modelling, artificial intelligence, and programming languages, Tanchum strives to uncover the aesthetic possibilities of computational error.

Tanchum has significant experience in the film industry, where he was a lead special effects technical director specialising in fluid dynamics simulations. He created memorable scenes for Hollywood blockbusters. The transition from the structured world of cinematic visual effects to the world of artistic expression reflects a shift in his focus from creating detailed technical effects for films to exploring the limitless possibilities of digital art.

Drawing on his experience in the film industry, Tanchum appreciates the art of exaggerating realistic parameters to create convincing visual effects, even if they are not physically accurate. This ability to customise and manipulate natural simulations became a recurring motif in his work.
